Welcome To Sports

Sport and fitness activities are open to all students at Monoux Sixth Form, whether you want to play, participate, compete or stay active. For students looking to take their performance further, there are opportunities to trial for and join one of our Focus Sport Programmes.

We aim to provide high-quality sporting and physical activity opportunities for individuals and teams, from recreational participation through to high-level competitive sport.

Our programme is delivered by fully qualified coaches, activators and instructors, ensuring students receive expert support and guidance across a wide range of activities.

Participation

Sports Participation

Our sports hall, gym and other sporting and recreational facilities are open to all students at Monoux Sixth Form. Students can take part in an extensive programme of sports and physical activities throughout the week, providing opportunities to stay active, develop new skills and enjoy sport alongside their studies.

 

Competition

Sports Competition

Monoux Sixth Form competes in a wide range of leagues, cups and tournaments throughout the academic year.

We are an official member of AoC Sport (Association of Colleges Sport) and compete in regional and national college leagues, cups and tournaments. We are also affiliated with the Essex County Football Association (ECFA) and the Waltham Forest School Sports Association (WFSSA), providing students with opportunities to compete across a variety of sports and competitive events.

Alongside external competition, we run an extensive programme of internal sporting competitions and events, giving all students the chance to represent their peers, develop their skills and enjoy competitive sport.

Monoux Sixth Form regularly competes in the following sports for both male and female students:

Basketball Programme

Basketball Programme

Monoux Sixth Form offers talented 16 to 19-year-olds the opportunity to combine their studies with a high-quality Basketball Programme. Students can develop their skills, compete at a high level and benefit from expert coaching while studying a course of their choice.

As part of the programme, students will:

  • Train weekly with England Basketball-qualified coaches.
  • Develop their technical skills, tactical understanding and physical fitness.
  • Receive guidance on training, performance, nutrition, health and lifestyle.
  • Access excellent training and playing facilities, including state-of-the-art fitness equipment.
  • Benefit from individual, small-group and team sessions focused on the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game.
  • Compete in the AoC Sport London College Basketball League and local league competitions.
  • Take part in AoC Sport cup competitions and regional tournaments.
  • Receive support to progress into club basketball, representative teams and higher-level playing opportunities across London and Essex.
  • Gain opportunities to achieve coaching and officiating qualifications.

Students can enrol on any A Level, BTEC Level 2 or BTEC Level 3 course and be part of the Monoux Sixth Form Basketball Programme.

Cricket Programme

Cricket Programme

Monoux Sixth Form, an Essex Cricket Inspirational College, offers talented 16 to 19-year-olds the opportunity to combine their studies with a comprehensive year-round Cricket Programme. Students can develop their skills, compete at a high level and benefit from expert coaching while studying a course of their choice.

As part of the programme, students will:

  • Train weekly with fully qualified Essex Cricket coaches.
  • Develop their skills, technique and fitness through a structured cricket development programme.
  • Access excellent training and playing facilities, including a bowling machine, video analysis technology and state-of-the-art fitness equipment.
  • Benefit from individual, small-group and team sessions focused on the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game.
  • Compete in indoor college cricket leagues and regional tournaments.
  • Take part in outdoor cricket leagues and cup competitions.
  • Receive support to progress into club cricket, representative teams and higher-level playing opportunities across Essex and beyond.
  • Gain opportunities to achieve coaching, umpiring and activator qualifications.
  • Incorporate their passion for cricket into curriculum projects and wider enrichment activities.

Students can enrol on any A Level, BTEC Level 2 or BTEC Level 3 course and be part of the Monoux Sixth Form Cricket Programme.

Football Programme

Football Programme

Monoux Sixth Form offers talented 16 to 19-year-olds the opportunity to combine their studies with a comprehensive Football Programme. Students can develop their skills, compete regularly and benefit from expert coaching while studying a course of their choice.

  • Develop their technical skills, tactical understanding and physical fitness.
  • Receive guidance on training, performance, health and lifestyle.
  • Benefit from small-group and team-based sessions focused on the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game.
  • Compete in the Essex FA College League.
  • Take part in AoC Sport, Essex FA and other cup competitions and regional tournaments.
  • Receive support to progress into club football, representative teams and higher-level playing opportunities across London and Essex.
  • Gain opportunities to achieve coaching and officiating qualifications.

Students can enrol on any A Level, BTEC Level 2 or BTEC Level 3 course and be part of the Monoux Sixth Form Football Programme.

Monoux Sports Gym

Monoux Sports Gym

The gym at Monoux Sixth Form is a modern fitness facility equipped with a wide range of cardiovascular and resistance machines, free weights and specialist strength and conditioning equipment.

Qualified fitness instructors are available during opening hours to provide support with gym inductions, personalised fitness programmes and the safe use of equipment.

Gym membership is free for all students, giving them access to the facilities throughout the day to support their health, wellbeing and fitness goals.

The college has partnerships with a range of local community and external sports organisations, including Essex Cricket, to enhance student experience and provide pathways to continue participation in sport whilst at college and beyond.
